Citizens from the countries listed below who are travelling to Colombia for tourism or as a temporary visitor DO NOT require a Visa to enter the country. The aforementioned  citizens must apply for an entry permit upon arrival. Please do not forget to bring a valid passport and a return or onward ticket. Please refer to TEMPORARY VISITORS VISA for definition of Temporary visitor which includes attending work related meetings in Colombia, attending conferences or providing urgent technical assistance to Colombian companies. Nationals from the countries that DO NOT APPEAR on this list must apply IN PERSON for a visa to enter Colombia. Please allow 5 working days to issue the Visa. Allow at least five working days. Temporary Visitors Code: TV  Visa Fee: £ 65 Payments for consular services have to be paid in cash at the Colombian Consulate (the exact fee). Visas for Spanish, Japanese and South Korean Citizens are exempted of payment. Term: Up to six (6) months- multiple entry.  Applicants: The Visa is best suited for people who intend to provide urgent technical assistance to a Colombian party, or for those who travel with no intention of residing permanently. This visa may be granted to individuals travelling to cover special events such as reporters, newscasters, or photographers from a registered news agency. People planning to travel in order to establish commercial and trade connections, attend academic seminars, conferences, expositions, short term studies, interviews for employment, medical treatment, or to participate in scientific, sporting and cultural events that will not be compensated, may also obtain this visa. Business Visas for Spanish, Japanese and South Korean Citizens are exempted of payment. Term: Up to four (4) years- Multiple entries (each entry for a maximum stay of 1 year).   Applicants: The visa is granted to company executives, sales executives and similar, travelling to Colombia to attend business meetings, carry out commercial activities or research. Please refer to Temporary Visitors visa in order to establish whether you have to apply for a Business Visa or a Temporary Visitor Visa. Letter of responsibility from the company stating the applicant's position, the purpose of the trip, the length of visa validity and whether single or multiple entry is required. The company must take responsibility for all the travel expenses, and include a Return Clause (model enclosed). For an independent business person the letter must include the purpose of the trip, bank references and names of commercial contacts in Colombia. MODEL OF RETURN CLAUSE (Name of company) assures the Government of Colombia that the company will defray all the expenses necessary for Mr (name of employee) and his family (if applicable) to return to his country of origin, or to his previous place of residence at the end of the contract, or in the event the visa is cancelled, or the employee is deported or expulsed, as required by the Decree 2371/1996. Term: Up to two (2) years- multiple entries.   Applicants: This visa is granted to those foreigners who have been hired by a Colombian company and are going to work in Colombia. It will also be granted to foreigners going to work with the subsidiary of a foreign company in Colombia. The employee may request the same visa for his spouse and children, provided they are financially dependent on him/her. Neither the spouse nor the children will be allowed to work in Colombia.. Original of the work contract and one copy, BOTH duly signed by the Colombian party and notarised in Colombia. The applicant must call the Consulate in person and sign the contract before the Consul. Letter from the contracting company committing to defray all necessary expenses to repatriate the worker to his/her country of origin or of latest residence at the end of the contract, or in the event that the visa expires or is cancelled. Certificate of existence of the contracting company, and proof of financial status (not older than 3 months). Certificate from the Ministry of Work and Social Security stating that the proportion of national and foreign employees is according to the Colombian law. Relevant diplomas or certificates, bearing an apostille from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, to support the applicant's ability to undertake the position offered. If the applicant is going to work in any of the following professions: ENGINEERING, ARCHITECTURE or GEOLOGY, he or she must submit a temporary permit issued by the Consejo Profesional Nacional de Ingeniería y Profesiones Auxiliares (COPNIA). Certificate of existence of the company in Colombia. List of all the members of the group indicating, passport numbers and nationality Copy of the group’s return or onward tickets. Spouse of a Colombian national or common law partner Code: TC  Visa Fee: £ 100 Payments for consular services have to be paid in cash at the Colombian Consulate (the exact fee). Visas for Spanish, Japanese and South Korean Citizens are exempted of payment. Term: Up to two (2) years.  Applicants: Spouse or common- law partner of a Colombian national. . Letter from the Colombian spouse, stating the duration of the relationship, the town where the couple will settle and the activities they plan to undertake, and requesting that a visa is granted to his/her spouse. This letter has to be notarised or authenticated by the Colombian consulate. Authenticated copy of the partner's Cédula de Ciudadanía. Colombian marriage certificate- or official document that certifies existence of legal partnership. One photocopy of all these documents except the application forms. Parents of a Colombian Citizen Visa (Resident Visa)  Code: RC Visa Fee: £ 200 Payments for consular services have to be paid in cash at the Colombian Consulate (the exact fee). This visa requires a minimum waiting period of 5 days. Visas for Spanish are exempted of payment. Term: Indefinite - Multiple Entries. Applicants: Foreign parent or parents of a Colombian national. . Registration of Birth of the Colombian Child issued during the previous 90 days. Notarized photocopy of the Colombian Citizenship Identification card (CÉDULA DE CIUDADANÍA) of the Colombian parent or child. LETTER ( copy) from the Colombian parent, stating that the foreign parent financially supports the child, or, from the son or daughter, if this is an adult. In case of a deceased Colombian parent, the Death certificate should be submitted. Visas for Spanish, Japanese and South Korean Citizens are exempted of payment. This visa requires a minimum waiting period of 5 days Term: Up to 2 years - Multiple entries. Applicants: This Visa will be granted to member of an NGO or Charity, that wishes to work, to visit or to develop a project related to their Charity or NGO in Colombia. This Visa requires an authorization from Colombia. Documents Required:  Valid passport. Visa application form (2 copies) completed and signed. Letter from the sponsoring organization stating the purpose and duration of the trip, explaining the activities that the applicant will be involved in (program) whilst in Colombia, and stating that the organisation will support the applicant and provide him/her with the necessary means to return to his/her country of origin when the task is completed. (Original document)  Letter from receiving organization (if applicable) confirming that the volunteer has been accepted in the programme. Certification, issued within the last 30 days, that the receiving organization is registered and has legal representation, issued by a Notary Public, a Solicitor, or the appropriate Chamber of Commerce in Colombia. (Original Document) Proof of funds. Proof of experience in the activities to be carried out. Two sets of photocopies of all the documents mentioned before with the exception of the application forms. Visas for Spanish, Japanese, South Korean and Bolivian Citizens are exempted of payment. Term: Maximum term one(1) year multiple entry. Applicants: This visa is granted to foreign nationals wishing to pursue their studies in an institution recognized by the Colombian government. Documents Required:  Valid passport. Letter from the Colombian institution certifying that the applicant has been accepted for the programme and he or she is going to be studying at least ten (10) hours per week.(original). In case it is an Exchange Program between two Institutions, you must present Authenticated copy of the Agreement between the two Universities or Colleges (if applicable). Copy of the Certificate of Existence of the Colombian institution (personería jurídica). Proof of funds: if the student has been awarded a grant, he or she must produce the original document entitling him or she to the grant. If he or she will be supporting himself or herself, he or she must produce recent bank statements or proof of income. Parents' written authorization for under age applicants, and statement of guardianship of the student while living in Colombia. Applicants: Foreign national member of a Religious association, duly registered by the government, intending to enter Colombia to develop activities relevant to their cult, under the religious order's responsibility. Certificate issued by the legal representative of the congregation in Colombia, stating the purpose of the mission, whether it is related to the practice of his or her cult or teaching activities. Proof of funds of the applicant. Letter from the sponsoring congregation stating the purpose and duration of the trip, explaining the activities that the applicant will be involved in while in Colombia and stating that the congregation will support the applicant and provide him or her with the necessary means to return to his or her country of origin when the task is completed. Visas for Spanish, Japanese and South Korean Citizens are exempted of payment. This visa requires a minimum waiting period of 5 days Term: Up to One(1) year multiple entry. Applicants: All foreigners travelling to Colombia to adopt a child must apply for a Temporary Special Visitor Visa before they travel. This Visa can be granted for up to one year for multiple entries. Documents Required:  Valid passport. Visa application form (2 copies) completed and signed. Certificate that the adoptions agency is duly registered in Colombia (“personería juridica”). Letter from the adopting family, requesting the visa. Photocopy of the Return Ticket. Cruise Ship Travellers People travelling to Cartagena on a cruise ship do not require a Visa.  A 72-hours visa will be issued to all travellers upon arrival. Beneficiary If you are travelling to Colombia with your spouse, children or any other person who depends economically on you; they must apply for a beneficiary visa. To do so you will require a Birth certificate, a Marriage certificate or a document that proves your relationship with the main applicant. You also have to submit a letter stating you commit to defray all necessary expenses during the applicant stay in Colombia, and proof that the applicant relies economically on you. Resident Visa Qualified: If you have had a temporary visa continuously for five (5) years, or three (3) if you have had a spouse visa, and during this time you have never been outside Colombian territory for more than six (6) months you could apply for a resident visa.  This visa can also be issued to parents of a Colombian national. Investor's visa: Suited for those foreigners who wish to invest in Colombia through the Banco de la Republica at least 100.000 American Dollars. How to Apply for a Colombian Visa The applicant must complete two (2) application forms and sign both copies. Unsigned application forms will not be accepted. Stick the photographs in the space provided, on the right hand corner of the application. Please do not use staples to affix the photographs to the forms.  Enclose original documents only and one photocopy for each document. When the documents are issued in English, please enclose a translation into Spanish. When presenting applications for a family or group, please present each application form with its relevant supporting documents attached.  The validity stated on the visa is measured from the date of issue of the visa. If the validity of the visa is longer than 3 months, the applicant must register with the DAS within 15 days of his arrival to Colombian territory. If you have sent your visa by post, you are responsible for collecting your visa. If you do not live in London you have one option for collecting your visa: 1. You can send a Courier to collect it. You must advise us prior to the collection of the documents, give us the name of the company and specify the time of collection. Please remember a personal interview is mandatory.
